In the southern part of Naqsh e jahan square, the portal of Masjed-e Imam with two minarets in both sides attracts the visitors.

The construction of  Masjed-e Imam began in 1019 AH and was complete in 1038 AH.

The building of the mosque being 12264 meter square at its base is in four portice design and consists of a central courtyard with four porticos in four  sides, some arcades , several rooms on the both sides of the porticos,the room bellow the dome,the prayer hall , and many decorations.

The architect of this mosque Ostad Ali Akbar Esfahai,was the reuted architect of Safavud period.His name is written on an inscription above the entrance.
