Tachar palace

Takhte Jamshid - Tachar palace The Tachara palace which had been the private palace of Darius is one of the first buildings erected on the Persepolis platform. Brightness of the grey stones of this place has caused it to be called as Ayeneh Khaneh (mirror house) or Talar-e Ayeneh (mirror hall). There is a stone inscription on the both sides of the southern portal of this palace above the head of the king. It is in Elamite, old Persian and Babylonian language saying: "Darius the Great king, king of kings, king of lands, the Hystaspes' son, a descendent of Achaemenids, who built this palace." Tachara Palace is erected on a platform 2.20 to 3

meters higher than the floor of the Apadana Palace. It is rectangular and lies from south to north with a length of 40 meters and a width of 30 meters. On the remaining portal of this palace there are figures of Darius' combat with a monster, Parsi guards of the palace with spears, Darius and his courtiers, the combat of bull and lion, the guard of Xerexs' inscription and other similar figures.
