The Historic citadel of Gougad is the second big adobe building of iran which belongs to about four centuries age.

Gougad citadel had been used as a caravanserai in peace but when ther had been a war, it had been used as a fort.

This citadel has a 70 by 70 meters square plan and has four 11 meters high round towers on the four corners.

This ancient building has two gates and a big central courtyard.

The rooms are erected on the four sides of this courtyard and some of them are in two floors.

At present this citadel is reconstructed and used as a lodging-place for tourists.
